Natividad hires trauma surgeon

SALINAS, CA – Natividad Medical Center has announced the appointment of a new team member to its future Level II Trauma Center expected to open early next year. Andrew McCague, a trauma surgeon, will assist with trauma systems implementation and management as well as co-direct the intensive care unit.
Originally from San Diego, McCague completed his fellowship in surgical critical care at the University of California at Irvine Medical Center. McCague also completed his general surgery residency training at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, a county hospital in Colton. During residency he served as chief resident, as well as earned awards for excellence in resident achievement. He is a graduate of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, School of Osteopathic Medicine in Stratford, New Jersey.
McCague is well published with several trauma publications, and has a strong interest in the field of trauma surgery. In recent years, he won several awards, including the 2013 American College of Osteopathic Surgeons – Resident Achievement Award in General Surgery; and the 2011 Arrowhead Regional Medical Center Annual Research Conference – First place award. In addition, McCague is actively involved in the communities he works as well as several professional organizations.
