Salinas, Calif. (May 21, 2018)—John Huerta Jr., former mayor and city council member of Greenfield, has been named to the Natividad Board of Trustees. Huerta has more than 27 years of experience with Monterey County in public works management. He has served on a range of regional, county and city bodies.

“John has led a career that has touched nearly every facet of Monterey County. We look forward to the contributions he will bring to Natividad as a public hospital serving the community for over 132 years,” said Board Chair Michael L. Winick.

In his 15 years as mayor, Huerta formed strong relationships with state and federal governments while advancing economic development, public safety, youth programs and infrastructure. A central focus of his leadership was bolstering Greenfield’s financial health by supporting voter-approved tax measures, promoting public and private investments, and attracting national brands to the city.

As a Natividad Trustee, Huerta will help to guide the Monterey County Board of Supervisors in its governing of county-owned-and-operated Natividad. The Board of Supervisors appointed him to the post on Feb. 27.

“I look forward to being part of the Natividad Board of Trustees,” said Huerta. “It is an honor to help support the health and well-being of our communities.”
