Overview
Certified Sterile Processing Technician classification pay scale: $25.792 – $35.227
Central Sterile Technician classification pay scale: $23.661 – $32.302

- A Sterile Processing Certification from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) or Certified Registered Central Service Technician certification from the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) is required.
Responsible For
- Decontaminates, processes and assembles instruments, equipment and instrument trays in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Follows infection control procedures to maintain asepsis and minimize the hazards of cross contamination.
- Delivers equipment and supplies to floor areas on STAT calls.
- Checks amount and condition of materials and equipment on hand and reports inadequate inventories and defective materials; checks for outdated supplies.
- Transports patients between units.
- Prepares and issues emergency case carts, supplies, equipment and instruments on demand.
- Maintains records and documents usage, losses and outdate supplies.
- Assists with maintaining a clean work environment by cleaning counters, sinks, and reprocessing equipment, according to predetermined schedules, with approved cleaning and disinfecting agents in the OR rooms as needed.

Additional Requirements
- Natividad requires that all incumbents pass a pre-employment physical/medical assessment.

- Employees who drive on County business to carry out job related duties must possess a valid CA Driver License for the class vehicle driven and clean driving record.
- Employees must have and show their original Social Security Card and a valid CA Driver License or CA State ID prior to the first day of work.
- Incumbents may be required to work all shifts, including weekends and holidays;
- Incumbents may be required to work with potentially hazardous and infectious substances.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS A combination of experience, education, and/or training which substantially demonstrates the following knowledge, skills and abilities: Working knowledge of:
- Asepsis technique and infection control procedures
- Methods, procedures and techniques in the decontamination, preparation and sterilization of medical supplies, instruments and equipment
- Various medical supplies, instruments and equipment used in a large medical facility
- Hospital procedures and medical terminology
- Basic inventory control and record keeping
