Natividad is seeking to fill a permanent Anesthesia Technician position in the Surgical Services Department. This incumbent will provide assistance, under the direct supervision of an Anesthesiologist or other licensed anesthesia care provider, with the acquisition, preparation, and application of various types of equipment required for the delivery of anesthesia care. Incumbents are vital members of the anesthesia care team and are trained to anticipate the needs of the patient and the provider, according to the surgical requirements, procedure or circumstance.

- Promote effective working relationships with anesthesia department staff and work collaboratively with RN circulators, Surgical Technicians and Nursing Assistants.

Responsible For
- Provides anesthesia technician services to patients under the direct supervision of a licensed anesthesia care provider.
- Cleans, sterilizes, disinfects, orders/stocks and maintains routine anesthesia equipment and supplies.
- Assists licensed anesthesia care provider with direct patient care in routine and emergent situations such as arterial lines, central lines, fiber optic intubations, and regional blocks.
- Maintain anesthesia medications (except controlled drugs), supplies and equipment according to needs and schedules.
- Cleans, organizes and maintains anesthesia workroom, supplies and equipment.
- Prepares and maintains patient monitoring devices and anesthesia delivery systems before, during and after anesthesia with consideration and knowledge of age-specific issues related to meeting the needs of the various patient groups.
- Performs basic troubleshooting for monitors and equipment; reports defective equipment and equipment malfunctions appropriately/immediately.
- Maintains established departmental policies, procedures, quality improvement, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
- Documents and maintains preventative maintenance and quality records.
- Assists with transport of patients and laboratory specimens as necessary.
- Responsible for performing tasks that are within the scope of their educational preparation, knowledge, and permitted by the policies and procedures of Natividad, and other local, state, and federal guidelines
- Participate in multidisciplinary rounds/meetings and in-services as needed
Additional Requirements
- Natividad requires that all incumbents pass a pre-employment physical/medical assessment.
- Natividad will conduct a thorough background and reference check process which includes a Department of Justice fingerprint check.
- Employees who drive on County business to carry out job related duties must possess a valid CA Driver License for the class vehicle driven and clean driving record.
- Employees must have and show their original Social Security Card and a valid CA Driver License or CA State ID prior to the first day of work.
- Incumbents may be required to work all shifts, including weekends and holidays;
- Incumbents may be required to work with potentially hazardous and infectious substances.

Educational Requirements
EXAMPLES OF EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/TRAINING Any combination of training, education and/or experience which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities and required conditions of employment listed above is qualifying. An example of a way these requirements might be acquired is: Experience One year of experience performing anesthesia technician duties within the last three years in an acute care hospital setting. Education Completion of a program approved by the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians (ASATT) is preferred. Certification Certification by the ASATT as a Certified Anesthesia Technician (Cer.A.T.) or Certified Anesthesia Technologist (Cer.A.T.T.) is preferred.
