February 24, 2011 — The Natividad Medical Foundation has named John D’Arrigo as its 2011 NMF "Hero" award recipient.

D’Arrigo will receive the award at 6 p.m. today in the main lobby of Natividad Medical Center in Salinas.

He was selected for his "philanthropic leadership" in establishing the Agricultural Leadership Council, which helps farm workers by purchasing medical equipment to care for the babies, children and families treated at NMC.

D’Arrigo Bros. Co., Andrew and Phyllis D’Arrigo and the Agricultural Leadership Council have donated more than $600,000 since 2010, according to the foundation.
